Talk Slide Sets.

  • The Dronenaut App Talk (for iOS) is the slide set for a talk given at the Sydney CocoaHeads Meetup in August 2017. The talk focuses more on the technology aspects of SNF (Scaleable Notification Fabric) and the associated design methodology. The Dronenaut app is actually a technology demonstrator for SNF. A good section of the talk is devoted to the SNF design methodology, giving an example design scenario for the development of the app Speech Recognition component (i.e. going from concept design through to production design). The talk is available as a HTML slide set HTML slide set (use the left and right arrow keys to navigate, ? for the menu, moving the mouse to the left of the window will bring up a navigation pane) or as a PDF document (33 MB)

  • The Dronenaut App Talk (for IOT) is the slide set for a talk given at the Sydney IOT Meetup in February 2017. The material given in the talk is now out of date but still made available for general reference. The talk focuses on how the Dronenaut iOS app, controls the Parrot(TM) Minidrone, manages voice recognition and performs voice synthesis. The talk also covers diverse aspects of Minidrone comms protocol, Bluetooth LE operation, Speech Recognition and some social aspects of Drones. You can either watch as a HTML slide set (use the left and right arrow keys to navigate, ? for menu, moving the mouse to the left of the window will bring up a navigation pane) or as a PDF document (27 MB)

  • The Async Design Talk is a slide set of a talk given at Sydney Cocoaheads in April 2016. The talk abstracts the concept of async processing into Consumers, Producers and Operators of Events. It then goes on to characterise the traditional schemes of async processing (callback event processing, serial thread queues, reactive extensions, etc) in terms of the abstraction. It finally compares them with the RxPatterns approach, giving the pros and cons of each scheme.
